I was enjoying one of those great Spring like days we had this week. I was sitting out on my new deck working on my Bible study. It was just so pleasant and nice. It was a great time with me, my Bible, the great outdoors, and God. Sort of.
I caught a little flicker out of the corner of my eye. A wasp had decided to join me. Then another wasp. Now, I am not one of those people who go into a panic over bugs of any kind. I sat there watching them and they finally landed on the chair beside me. I continued my Bible study, but now I was casting a wary eye toward the wasps. My time was effectively ruined, as I felt I had to keep an eye on these potentially stinging insects. Sure, I kept reading my Bible and taking notes, but that great time I was having was gone simply because of two little bitty insects. Insects no bigger than two inches and with a combined weight of nothing! So tiny, yet so effectively taking my peace away from me.
Can you see where this going? So many times in life, we let something so small take away the peace with which we have been blessed. We let the smallest issue weigh heavy on our minds until it completely distracts us from what we were doing. This is not what God had in mind.
God wants a life of peace for us. That does not mean a life without struggles, trials, or temptations. This means a life of peace in the midst of all the problems we might have. The peace that comes from knowing that God knows where this path leads, and knowing that His word says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Those great words of peace.
He says in John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
David says about God in Psalm 4:8, “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
In Isaiah 32:7, Isaiah writes, “And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.”
See? He speaks peace over your life constantly. When those things of life threaten to steal your peace, open your hands and give it all to God. Let Him give you the peace that absolutely passes all understanding in the midst of unspeakable trials and troubles.
When my life has been ripped apart and my heart broken into pieces, my Father gathered up the pieces and put them back together. He healed that broken heart with His peace. His love. His comfort. His care.
This peace is available to each one of us. He is ready and waiting to share your burdens and to hold you close to His heart, and love you through whatever is troubling you.
Don’t let the world steal your peace. Give your concerns to the Heavenly Father and let Him give you the peace that will Make a Difference!
