As summer unfolds in Carlsbad, I find myself reflecting on the incredible support, dedication, and community spirit that continue to move Carlsbad MainStreet and the Pearl of the Pecos Arts and Cultural District forward.
The past few months have been a reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together. From the successful launch of another season of our Farmers’ and Makers’ Market to the celebration of our 9th Annual CavernFest, we have seen neighbors supporting neighbors, families creating memories, and visitors experiencing the very best of what makes Carlsbad special.
The Farmers’ and Makers’ Market continues to provide opportunities for local growers, artisans, and small businesses to connect with the community. Our recent move to Halagueno Arts Park has opened an exciting new chapter for the market, creating a welcoming space where people can gather, learn, shop, and enjoy the creativity and talent that thrive within our community. CavernFest once again demonstrated the power of community. What began nine years ago has grown into a community tradition that brings people together through music, entertainment, vendors, and shared experiences. Seeing thousands of people come together to celebrate Carlsbad is a powerful reminder that our community’s greatest strength has always been its people.
As we look toward the future, we are excited about the opportunities ahead. We anticipate sharing news soon about new businesses coming to the district, bringing fresh energy, new experiences, and continued investment to the heart of our community. At Carlsbad MainStreet, we believe that vibrant communities are built through connection. Every event, every partnership, and every investment in our downtown contributes to a larger story: one of pride, opportunity, and a shared vision for the future.
Downtown is where our history meets our future. It reflects our creativity, resilience, and the spirit of a community that continues to grow while honoring its roots. As we continue to invest in our district, we are creating opportunities that strengthen our local economy, celebrate our culture, and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. To our volunteers, sponsors, board members, city and county leadership, merchants, and community partners, thank you again. Your support makes this work possible and continues to inspire us every day.
The future of Carlsbad MainStreet is not just about buildings and events; it is about belief in who we are as a community. Together, we are creating a place where traditions are celebrated, new opportunities are embraced, and future generations can continue to thrive.
With gratitude,

I stepped into the role of Executive Director of Carlsbad MainStreet in February 2026. As a lifelong New Mexican who has experienced communities across our state, I am grateful to serve the Carlsbad community, which I have proudly called home for the past five years. My work is rooted in a deep love for New Mexico’s heritage and a passion for growing the Carlsbad MainStreet Arts and Cultural District.
