Book Vending Machine Arrives at Yeso Elementary Book Vending Machine Arrives at Yeso Elementary

Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine landed at Yeso Elementary this past week! What’s a book vending machine all about? A book vending machine offers books instead of food or drinks. The book vending machine is a creation of Global Vending Group. Inchy’s Vending Machine distributes books using a golden token given to students by educators and staff of their school. The purpose of the machine is to reward students for good behavior, good grades, or good attendance.
A few of the titles available to students in the book vending machine include The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm, Diary of a Worm, and Chicken in Charge. The vending machine holds up to 20 different book titles and sports a whopping 200 book capacity when completely filled. The goal of the vending machine is to “bridge the gap between literacy and engagement,” according to the machine’s creative company: The Global Vending Group. Students at Yeso Elementary have the opportunity to earn books to keep rather than to return to the library. Ownership of books in a student’s home promotes literacy in a new way because students do not have to give their books back after a certain amount of time and do not have to fear damaging or losing their reading materials. From the vending machine, students have a way to earn and keep books.
