Congratulations to Intrepid Potash. We’ve received word that Intrepid’s Mine Rescue Team recently placed 3rd and 5th in the Annual National Mine Rescue Competition. These are extremely competitive events.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is the federal governing body for the mines in the United States. Companies with underground mining operations are required to have and maintain underground mine rescue capabilities.
Members of Intrepid’s Mine Rescue Team are experts in first aid and train countless hours in deploying mine rescue equipment and preparing for mine cave-ins, mine fires, or other disasters. There were 23 teams, from across the United States, and they competed in a variety of activities, with the Mine Rescue Field Competition being the most complex and the most prized. Intrepid won 3rd Place in the Mine Rescue Field Competition, which is a major accomplishment.
Overall, in combined scoring, which includes first-aid, technical (equipment), and the field competition, Intrepid placed 5th. Intrepid’s Mine Rescue Team members are Mike Runner, Nick Neumann, Johnny Rodriguez, Josh Nichols, Steve Grayson, Sam Chavez, Robby Harris, Shane Hall, and Josh Hedrick and Sam Biscaino. Congratulations on a job well done.
From the office of Mayor Dale Janway
