NM Legislative Update NM Legislative Update

new-mexico-state-capitol

As the legislative session winds down on Thursday, there are some serious issues apparent that we will discuss in future updates.  Some good news is that Carlsbad and the surrounding area may receive some capital outlay funding that will go toward several important projects. Possible capital outlay set aside, pending the Governor’s signature includes: $1.7 million for the SE Loop Road Bypass, $750,000 for the Riverwalk Recreation Center and $1.1 million for the Double Eagle Water System. Money has also been set aside to make improvements to the Jefferson Montessori Academy playground and other facilities. The GO bond also includes funding for the new Alejandro Ruiz Senior Center, and for vehicles for our police department and for the meals program. These are all very important projects, and we thank our Southeast New Mexico legislators for all their hard work and many sleepless nights over the past few weeks.

From the office of Mayor Dale Janway
