Artesia’s Girl Scout Troop 20009 has been spreading joy around town one box of cookies at a time. The girls have been making cookie drop offs at different locations around town. Troop leader, Betty Garcia shared the following information with us:
“Due to our covid-19 situation, Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest had many unsold cases of cookies. Troop 20009 turned this into an opportunity to say Thank You to First Responders, essential workers and community partners by donating hundreds of cases of delicious Girl Scout cookies. Some of the recipients were Artesia Police, Artesia Fire and Rescue, Eddy County Sherriff’s office, Wal-Mart, Fenn’s, Gregg’s, FLETC, U.S. Border Patrol,  Artesia General Hospital, Advantage heating and cooling,  J & J Home Healthcare, San Pedro Nursing home and many local restaurants who opened during this difficult time. These are just some of the businesses we visited, too many to name. We thanked them for continuing to serve us and look forward to their continued  support. “
If any girl in K-12th grade is interested in joining Girl Scouts or any adult would like to help or volunteer to be a leader, please contact Betty Garcia.  She can be reached at (520)236-1792 or bettygarcia9771@hotmail.com
