What does a group of desert dwelling Future Farmers of America know about forestry? A whole lot! The Artesia FFA chapter placed first in the Forestry Career Development Event at the state competition.
Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter membership includes high school students. These FFA members can participate in the Forestry Career Development Events (CDE). During these events, students compete in a variety of forestry applications including map interpretation, dendrology, orienteering, and timber measurement. Congratulations to the Artesia FFA Chapter Team! Individuals who placed high in the Forestry Competition were Emma and Ann Greenwood, 1st and 3rd respectively, and Latisha Hammer in 5th.
In the Farm Business Management Competition, the team placed 2nd. Individuals with high scores were Paydon Kniepkamp with 1st place and Emma Greenwood with 2nd place. The Horse team placed 2nd as well with Maggie Miller and Shana Elkins placing 4th and 5th individually. Another team 2nd place came in from the Wildlife Competition where Jaden Waldrip placed 5th individually. At the Wool Competition, the team placed 2nd and Addy Folmar placed 1st individually. In the Hort Produce Competition, Ohen Swarengin placed 4th. Congratulations to the Artesia FFA Chapter! Well done and well deserved!
