The large, wooden orange signs which proudly identify “Hermosa Student of the Month” received an upgrade this past month. The wood signs served many years honoring students with great attendance and scholastic achievement.
The service of the wooden signs reached retirement when the Hermosa Parent Teacher Organization purchased new steel lawn signs to honor their Superkids. The signs are cut with welding torches in the shape of an encircled large, blue letter H for Hermosa and “Student of the Month” proudly crowning the top of the circle. President of the Hermosa PTO, Christine Turner, expressed her excitement for the new signs explaining that they will be easier to place into yards because of the rebar stakes which support the oversized H. The parent volunteers of the PTO will place the stakes without fear of splitting the material. The royal blue signs will stand up to the desert’s tough conditions lasting for years to come. Be on the lookout around town for Hermosa’s Superkids!
