Focus Artesia Fall 2026 | Recipe: Mini Vanilla Scones Focus Artesia Fall 2026 | Recipe: Mini Vanilla Scones

A tender, buttery scone with a sweet vanilla glaze serves the coziness of fall in every bite.

Perfect alongside a warm cup of coffee for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet treat any time of day.

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • ½ tsp Baking powder
  • ½ tsp Baking soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 5 Tbsp Unsalted butter, cold, cut into pieces

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla

Glaze

  • 1 ½ cups Powdered sugar
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Mix the dry ingredients together in a medium bowl.
  2. Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sour cream, egg yolk, and vanilla until well blended. Add to the dry ingredients and stir with a fork until the dough forms a cohesive ball. (It may not seem to have enough liquid, but it will come together.)
  4. Place the dough on an ungreased baking sheet and pat into a 1-inch-thick disc. Cut into wedges, but do not separate.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. While the scones bake, prepare the glaze.
  6. Place the powdered sugar in a bowl. Add water 1 teaspoon at a time, stirring until the glaze reaches the desired consistency.
  7. Brush the glaze over the hot scones and serve immediately.
