The articles in this issue highlight the value of the hard-working groups and individuals who keep Artesia safe and successful. It is our honor to feature their stories and highlight all the ways they make our community a better place.

Boots (from function to fashion) are a classic staple in New Mexico culture and are often a symbol of strength and hard work. Badges represent teamwork and a community of people who belong to an organization or support a cause. This collection of stories reflects the shared point of pride in each of the groups. Acknowledging the common character and moral qualities of these individuals is especially inspiring. It is these distinguished individuals who make the experience of Artesia and our culture.

In addition to the local features, we have included some helpful resources to keep you active this season. Check out the Community Calendar on page 6, for all of the entertaining, local events. From theater camp to swim lessons, there is something in Artesia to keep you busy this summer! Look for updates from Artesia Main Street, Artesia Arts Council, and the Artesia Chamber of Commerce on all of the events and projects happening in the heart of our community.

In New Mexico, we live in a land of unending skies and a diverse landscape. From National Forests to desert springs, I cannot wait to get outdoors and explore this summer. We will be setting up camp at some new places with the campsite guide on page 26. Be sure to take advantage of these warm summer months to explore the Land of Enchantment; the opportunities are endless!
