As we look ahead to spring at Carlsbad MainStreet, I find myself filled with gratitude and excitement for what our community continues to accomplish together.

Spring represents renewal, momentum, and the beginning of another vibrant season in Carlsbad. With the return of the Farmers’ and Makers’ Markets in May and CavernFest in June, families, friends, and neighbors will once again gather to enjoy local vendors, live music, and shared experiences that bring us closer together. These moments remind us that downtown is not just a place to visit; it is a place to connect, celebrate, and build lasting memories.

Carlsbad MainStreet exists to strengthen the heart of our city, our historic downtown, through economic vitality, historic preservation, and community activation. Every event, every storefront improvement, and every neon light that flickers back to life is part of a larger story: the story of Carlsbad investing in itself.

Over the past five years, Carlsbad has experienced meaningful momentum, and our downtown continues to evolve. The Cavern Theatre stands as a shining example of that evolution. Once a treasured memory for so many, it is now a vibrant gathering place once again. The theatre is more than a building; it is a symbol of what preservation and partnership can accomplish when the City of Carlsbad, local businesses, volunteers, and supporters unite around a shared vision.

Downtown is where our history meets our future. It reflects our creativity and our resilience. As Executive Director, I am deeply committed to protecting our history while helping shape a bold and vibrant future for downtown Carlsbad. To our volunteers, sponsors, board members, city leadership, and community partners, thank you. Your belief in this work makes progress possible.

The foundation of Carlsbad MainStreet is strong, and the possibilities ahead are limitless as we continue shaping a downtown that reflects the pride, creativity, and resilience of Carlsbad.

With gratitude,

Denise Green,

I stepped into the role of Executive Director of Carlsbad MainStreet in February 2026. As a lifelong New Mexican who has experienced communities across our state, I am grateful to serve the Carlsbad community, which I have proudly called home for the past five years. My work is rooted in a deep love for New Mexico’s heritage and a passion for growing the Carlsbad MainStreet Arts and Cultural District.
