The Work We Do

Women for a Better Carlsbad is dedicated to empowering women in our community through education, volunteerism, and civic engagement. Our mission is to help make Carlsbad a stronger, more connected place to live, work, and thrive by creating opportunities for women to learn, lead, and serve.

How It All Began

The movement began with Kat Davis and Andrea Armstrong, who initially founded The Power of She, hosting “Wine Down Wednesdays” to help local women meet, connect, and network. The idea evolved when the group drew inspiration from Women for a Better Artesia, leading to the formation of Women for a Better Carlsbad as a platform for even greater community involvement and impact.

What Makes Us Unique

Women for a Better Carlsbad stands out by offering quarterly luncheons that feature guest speakers, educational sessions, and opportunities to connect with like-minded women. We focus on topics relevant to personal growth and local concerns, while also highlighting nonprofit organizations that offer volunteer opportunities.

Our website serves as a one-stop hub, featuring a comprehensive community calendar and links to local nonprofit organizations to help residents stay informed and involved in Carlsbad’s civic life.

What We’re Most Passionate About

We are passionate about collaboration and education. By partnering with local organizations and providing informative programming, we empower women to be more knowledgeable voters, community leaders, and active participants in local initiatives. We believe that informed and engaged women can drive real, positive change in Carlsbad through both advocacy and hands-on service.

How We Encourage Community Involvement

We keep our members and the wider community engaged by regularly spotlighting local nonprofits, causes, and civic initiatives. For many, it may be their first introduction to a nonprofit or issue, and we believe knowledge is the first step to action. Our events serve as a call to action, motivating women to get involved in meaningful, tangible ways.

Final Message to the Community

Women for a Better Carlsbad and Women for a Better Artesia are excited to announce a collaborative effort aimed at uniting women across Eddy County. Our upcoming event, “Meet in the Middle,” will be held this September at Balzano Winery. Stay tuned for more details—we hope to see you there!
