Carlsbad Municipal Schools (CMS) is dedicated to equipping district high school students with the tools and resources needed to excel after graduation.

Each student has access to a comprehensive college and career readiness program offering career and technical education classes, work-based learning opportunities, college admission advice, and scholarship assistance. CMS is committed to preparing its students for success in today’s competitive and dynamic workforce.

One of the key components of the college and career center at Carlsbad High School is its focus on career and technical education (CTE) classes. These classes are designed to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for success in various career paths. Whether students are interested in pursuing a career in construction, energy, law and public safety, media production, information technology, or various other skilled trades, Carlsbad High School offers a wide range of CTE classes to cater to diverse interests and career aspirations. By participating in these classes, students gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to career scenarios, ultimately better preparing them for their future endeavors.

In addition to CTE classes, Carlsbad Municipal Schools also provides work-based learning opportunities. Work-based learning allows students to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, gaining practical experience and insight into their chosen career paths. Whether through internships, job shadowing, or apprenticeships, students have the chance to work alongside or observe professionals in their field, building essential skills and establishing valuable connections that can help propel them towards future success.

To help alleviate higher education and industry certification barriers, CMS partners with local businesses and the Carlsbad Community Foundation to provide students with access to various scholarship opportunities. CMS aims to ensure that financial hardships do not hinder students from pursuing their academic and career goals. Students are empowered to make informed decisions about their future and provided with the resources and support necessary to achieve their goals. Upon graduation, CMS students are equipped with the necessary skills, experience, and financial support to pursue their academic and career aspirations with confidence.
