“Stitched”, an exhibition of quilts by Natasha Wilde, is on display in the Artesia Arts Council’s Ocotillo Performing Arts Center lobby through December 20, 2024.
Natasha Wilde was born and raised in Michigan and lived in Texas and Washington before settling in Artesia. After a career in the medical field, she discovered a love of sewing, which led to a fashion design degree and experimentation with creating décor pieces, garments, furs, and, ultimately, quilts. When she isn’t busy quilting, playing pickleball, or volunteering around town, she hangs out with her husband Chris and daughter Skylar.
“I make quilts and other artsy things. My quilts are bold, bright, and colorful. I enjoy the technicality of precision piecing, the creativity of quilt design, and the endless possibilities of fabric combinations. I hope my quilts find homes where they will be used – on a bed, as picnic blankets, during family movie nights, on the couch when you are sick, over the table as a fort, for warmth, for comfort, for feeling at home. I hope my quilts do more than just look pretty.” -Natasha Wilde
Below is a sneak peek of Wilde’s quilts. Enjoy them in person at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center, located at 310 W Main St, Artesia, NM, 88210. Wilde will also be hosting quilting demonstrations on November 22nd from 12:30-2:30 pm and December 13th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm in the gallery lobby.
