Art is one of life’s greatest joys.
About eight years ago, I wanted to try my hand at something very different that I had not seen anyone around here do: junk journals. I saw them on Pinterest and loved how beautiful and different they were. All kinds of paper can be used, both new and old. When creating with newer paper, I use tea and coffee stains to make it look vintage. I also use vintage laces, stamping, paints, and other materials from my scrapbooking days. I like to rust safety pins, charms, and anything metal that can be used in the books, adding a little bling at times. The beauty of junk journals is in helping you create and keeping your memories that stay with you for the rest of your life.
My newest passion in crafting is pottery. A few months ago I was invited to the Pottery Study here in Carlsbad which sparked in me a new interest. I am so glad I went! I had always wanted to try it because of the beauty that can be drawn out of a slab of clay. I pray to Jesus before I start and truly believe that this is the path God has me on: to create new things every day.
If any of you have been interested in crafting or feel a nudge to try something new, I encourage you to take a class or find a studio to pursue your passion. It is very satisfying, and we never stop learning no matter how old we are.
