Fall is upon us in Downtown Carlsbad!
The change of the season always brings with it a sense of joy. You can take a minute to reflect on the season just past while also looking forward to all the things to come with the new season. Fall is one of those seasonal changes that allows us to slow down and appreciate the changes that we see around us. The leaves begin to change, the weather begins to cool down (for which I am thankful after another hot desert summer), but most importantly, the flavors that fall brings are always a welcome change.
My favorite way to experience these fall flavors in Downtown Carlsbad has always been through our Farmers and Makers Market. We have had such a successful season so far. This year, we are so excited to prolong our market season through the end of October. We are thankful for the support of our community which allows us to keep growing this event. Without our vendors, attendees, sponsors, and city and county partners, these community events would not be possible.
With the change of the season, it is great to see our vendors switch up their offerings from snow cones to warm drinks, from summer flavored pies and baked goods to the fall flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, and pecan. With a variety of produce, fresh roasted green chile, and seasonings, you are bound to find your perfect fall flavor at the market. Through our partnership with New Mexico Farmers Market Association, we have access to so many seasonal recipes, tips, and tricks for how to make the most out of the local produce of the season. From a variety of squash dishes, soups, broths, and pies, there is an abundance of free recipes available for the public to access. We regularly share these on our Carlsbad Downtown Farmers Market Facebook page, so be sure to follow us to see how you can elevate your recipes this season.
Our remaining market dates this month are every Thursday evening from 5:30–7:30pm and Saturday October 5th and 19th on the Eddy County Courthouse lawn. Come and join us to discover all the fall flavors that Carlsbad has to offer!

My career began in 2020 as the Director for Carlsbad’s Pearl of the Pecos ACD and at the beginning of 2022 the MainStreet board merged these positions into one.
