Dear Friends,

Summer is a bright, sunny spot of fun in Artesia, New Mexico. The weather is hot, but so are our parks, murals, larger-than-life bronze sculptures, events, shopping and dining establishments, and more. From June through August, our charming town will transform into a vibrant hub of activity, showcasing the best of what our region has to offer. As you stroll down Main Street, you will be greeted with the sights, sounds, and flavors that make our state truly unique. Immerse yourself in the rich history of southeastern New Mexico with tours of our historic buildings, landmarks, and public art works. Indulge in the delicious flavors of New Mexican cuisine at our local eateries, or sample some of the freshest roasted coffees from our region.

Don’t miss the Oil Patch Market at the Derrick Floor on Main Street each Tuesday evening this summer. This Market will host farmers’ and makers’ booths with fresh and beautiful home-grown foods and flowers, as well as handmade items. We will have two sponsored booths for children to set up each week, and two sponsored booths for nonprofit organizations. Sign-ups for these are first come, first served. Please check out www.artesiamainstreet.com for more information. Eddy County will be ripe with markets this summer: Carlsbad’s Downtown Farmers Market will run on Thursdays and Saturdays.

June 15th also marks the 100th anniversary of the Illinois #3, the first commercial oil well to pay royalties to the state of New Mexico. To celebrate the birth of the oil and gas industry in our region, come out to the Permian Basin Celebration! We will begin with a Patriotic Oilfield Equipment Parade at 9 am, a fun zone at the Derrick Floor following the parade, Oilfield Cookoff and Olympics, and live music with headliner Bart Crow. This is an event one hundred years in the making, so don’t miss honoring a century of hard work, prosperity, determination, and grit.

I wear many hats: wife, mom, entrepreneur, travel enthusiast, interior designer wannabe, writer, enneagram type 7, margarita connoisseur. The list goes on because, heck, I'm a Gemini too and if you've met any of those, you know what I'm talking about. I have a spirit for adventure and hometown pride. I love a good road trip and finding new places to explore.
