Welcome to summertime in the Land of Enchantment!
With its sun-drenched days and moonlit nights, summer sparks the wanderlust within us. Traveling, whether physically or mentally, becomes a gateway to rejuvenation, connection, new experiences, and lasting memories. Whether near or far, the summer is brimming with possibilities for adventure.
This edition of Focus on Artesia serves as a springboard for travel inspiration in the upcoming months. A trip can be as spontaneous as a last-minute day excursion to a nearby oasis or a much anticipated weekend getaway. With its diverse landscapes, from the arid deserts of White Sands to the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains to 15 National Parks, our state boasts an array of distinctive destinations. When time and resources allow, consider contacting a local travel agent to journey beyond our borders to other states or even internationally.
Opportunities abound to refresh locally this summer, as well. Embark on adventures through reading at the Artesia Public Library. Discover the Oil Patch Market, new this summer on Tuesdays at the Derrick Floor. Mark your calendars for the Permian Basin Celebration commemorating the centennial of oil and gas and the annual 4th of July Extravaganza. Enroll your kids in Missoula Children’s Theater camp, and let them enter a world of play. You can even enjoy a day lounging poolside at the Artesia Aquatic Center.
Any form of travel bears the potential for revitalization. Regardless of the miles covered, simply stepping outside of familiar environments can refresh our minds and renew our outlook on life. As we broaden our horizons, we develop a deeper understanding of different cultures and perhaps, rediscover the beauty of our own in the process.
This summer, venture beyond the ordinary, and immerse yourself in moments devoted to exploration and discovery, embracing New Mexico with fresh eyes. Upon returning home, you may just find, there truly is no place quite like it.
