IMG-5540

One mural in the Carlsbad MainStreet District is being refurbished, and a new one was completed on Thursday October 19th.

Scenes of the Southwest by Mark Spoore is a mural in the alley on the back of the Jeff Diamond Law Firm building on Mermod & Halagueno and is being refurbished by Kirsten Mauritsen from Artesia. This project is a collaboration of Carlsbad MainStreet and Pearl of the Pecos Arts & Cultural District. A MainStreet resiliency alliance grant helped fund this project with the hopes that the refurbished mural will help fill the vacancy of the empty building, bringing more economic vitality to downtown. This mural is almost finished, with just a few spots left to touch up. Stop by and see it when you can.

In the Domino’s parking lot, on the corner of Greene and Canal Carlsbad Bat Wings has been painted by Kelsey Montague and team.  “This project is by the Carlsbad Arts Council  and Chevron and is being given as a gift to the City of Carlsbad on behalf of Carlsbad Caverns National Park to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Park,” shared the Carlsbad Arts Council. To learn more about the artist, visit https://kelseymontagueart.com/
