The West Loop Bypass ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday  July 18, 2023. Opening to traffic and hopefully easing the burdens on city streets from semi truck and oil field traffic.

In remarks from Eddy County Public Works Project Director Jason Burns, it was stated that the project was first discussed in 1986 and now, 37 years later it is complete. Many thanks were given for all involved, including support from area political leaders, government entities working together to make the project happen, and to the Public Works staff for showing up to work everyday to complete the project.

This bypass connects North Hwy 285 to National Parks Hwy.
