Spring is in full swing! With Easter weekend at hand, life has a hint of charm, flowers, pastels, and well, LIFE!
This year, Easter will be celebrated on Sunday, April 9th. The holiday is a moving target because it is tied to the lunar calendar. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full Moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox. But if you prefer not to follow the moon, the easiest way to find this holiday is to scroll ahead on the calendar and check for Easter sometime in late March or early April.
For many, Easter is a sign of spring and a day to gather with family. A visit from the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, and Sunday lunch are common traditions. For Christians around the world, it is also a time to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus gave the gift of life through his death because of his resurrection. Had he remained in the grave, everything he taught, all that he stood for would have been discredited. But after 3 days in the tomb, Jesus rose. He conquered death. This means that for those who are in Christ, a physical death is not the end but simply a gateway to eternal life. It also means a different life here on this earth, one filled with hope, joy, and peace. Eternal life is not reserved only for heaven but can be tasted even now.
If this seems like a nice story or maybe something you just don’t buy into, what better time to dig into the possibility that maybe, just maybe, there is truth to be found in this historic event? With Easter Sunday 2 days away, this is the time to find a church and seek the Truth that is meant to be found.
New life is waiting. And Easter Sunday is the time to experience it!
