For 1st graders around Artesia, spring has meant more than just warm (and windy!) weather. It has been a time of hard work not only in the classroom but also in preparation for their first school “moosical.” All semester the students have been diligently learning songs and practicing choreography for the first annual A Barnyard Moosical.

Parents, family, and friends have gathered to watch these little ones transform into pigs, chickens, cows and goats. The audience was not short of laughter and smiles as they listened to songs including When Pigs Fly, Funky Chicken Strut, Cows’ Chorus Line, and Gourmet Goat Cheese Pizza. The “moosical” also gave many students the opportunity for an individual speaking part.

It really is amazing what children can accomplish when teachers show a little patience and a lot of love. Working together to create something special is one of the many qualities students are learning in Artesia Public Schools. If you missed the performances this year, be sure to find a 1st grader next year. You are sure to leave the “moosical” a little happier than when you came.
