Making a Difference Making a Difference

I have been reading a lot about the Asbury Revival that has broken out in Wilmore, Kentucky. It began when students spontaneously stayed in the auditorium following the weekly chapel time. It started on February 8. As of right now, it is nine days later and showing no signs of coming to an end. Kids and adults both have continued to come and it appears that God is working big time there. This is what our country needs right now.

I have seen people post on social media that God needs to do that all across the country. I agree, but hearts have to be ready to let God speak to them and through them. We have to be ready to be God’s servants here. There is a song called “Do Something.” In it the songwriter talks about how he has looked around and there are lost and hungry everywhere. Everywhere he looks, people are hurting and need Jesus. The lyrics continue, “So, I shook my fist at Heaven, and I said ‘God, why don’t you do something?’ He said, ‘I did. I created you.” Yeah.

He is depending on us to care enough abut the world around us to do something. We cannot be content to watch the church services from our couch in our pajamas. We cannot be content to sit in our church buildings on Sunday, then walk out the doors and forget what we just heard. We can no longer be content to think that someone else will do it. That someone else could do a better job of being a witness. The lyrics to the song continue, “If not us, then who? If not me and you? Right now. It is time for us to do something. If not now then when? Will we see and end to all this pain? It’s not enough to do nothing. It’s time for us to do something.”

How many people around you are struggling to find the answers they need? How many are contemplating suicide because they don’t know where to turn? How many are being abusive to their loved ones because they don’t have any idea about how to turn to God for help? How many are dying around us daily without knowing Jesus? Hell is a very real place. You have friends that are heading there unless you do something. We all know very well that we have no clue how many days we have left in our life. You don’t know but what this very day is the last day for that friend of yours that is living a life without Jesus. Do something!

I guess I am writing this as a challenge to all of us. It is time for us to do something! If not now, then when? If not us, then who? Commit your life to serving God and reaching the world around you. It will make a difference.
