Southeast New Mexico College is celebrating Black History Month with a special event at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 at the college library. Local attorney Nate Banks will be the guest speaker. Banks is the District Defender of the 5th Judicial District for the Public Defender’s Office. He also serves as President of the Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad and is a radio personality on the Fierro 106.1 show called “The Old School Drive.” He also serves on the NM Supreme Court Committee on Equity and Justice and as Teen Court Judge for Carlsbad.
