Mr. Matthews, 77, died on January 16, 2023 at his home in Artesia.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Ronald was born on July 26, 1945 in Artesia; the son of Haskell Henry Matthews and Vesta Lee Bonham Matthews.
He was a lifelong truck driver starting at the age of 18. His CB handle was Gentle Ben. He was a member of Kelly’s Cafe in Loco Hills and loved spending time with his friends there.
Ronald was the kindest, sweetest most generous person – a friend to all and a stranger to none.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Billie Henderson, JoAnn Matthews, and Glenda Estes, a brother Rodney Matthews, and great-grandson Cy Palmer.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Matthews; sons Chuck Matthews and wife Shawna, and Jimmy Matthews and wife Donna; daughters Ronna Schiel and husband Buddy, Sandi Tidwell and husband Don, and Stacy Natera and husband Mark; step- children Amy Kuemper and John Gilbert; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
