Another one of Carlsbad’s most popular annual events is on the horizon.  The Electric Light Parade and Night of Lights will be celebrated on Nov. 26. This is Carlsbad’s “official” kickoff of the Christmas season, and this year’s theme will be the ”Elf” movie. The Night of Lights celebration will take place at our beautiful Halagueno Arts Park beginning at around 3 p.m. A costume themed fun run is also being developed for earlier in the day. There will be crafts, vendors and entertainment at the arts park. We’re especially excited about a performance by the very talented Early College High School choir. There will also be a DJ in the park, costumed characters and many other activities. More information will be posted soon.

Lineup for this year’s electric light parade will begin at 5:30 pm. on Mermod and Alemeda Street, with the parade beginning at 7 p.m. We have a very important ceremony every year where a large switch is flipped, leaning to the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Halagueno Arts Park and then kicking off the parade. The parade will wind past the courthouse and head over to the beach area. There’s also a contest every year, and entries will be judged for how close they are to the movie “Elf,” among other categories.  For more information, or to register for this year’s parade, please contact Carlsbad MainStreet at (575) 628-3768 or Keep Carlsbad Beautiful at (575) 302-7665.
