After all 54 Eddy County precincts have reported results 47.83 percent of registered voters in Eddy County cast ballots yesterday. Statewide voter turnout was at 52 percent.
 
Eddy County Clerk Cara A. Cooke was re-elected with 100 percent of vote, as was County Commissioners Earnest Carlson and James Bowen III, and Eddy County Assessor Rhonda Hatch.
 
The New Mexico Second Congressional District Election results are very, very tight with former Los Cruces City Councilor and Democrat Gabriel Vasquez with a slight lead over Republican Yvette Herrell. If the results are within a quarter of a percentage point it will trigger an automatic recount. Final results likely won’t be known for some time. Eddy County voters chose Herrell with 74 percent over Vasquez with 26 percent of the vote.
 
Eddy County voters chose Republican Alexis Martinez Johnson for U.S. Representative District 3 seat with 83 percent of Eddy County votes over Teresa Leger Fernandez’s 17 percent. However, district-wide Fernandez won the District 3 House seat with 56 percent of the vote. 
 
Running unopposed and re-elected was New Mexico State Representative District 54 James Townsend and District 55 Cathrynn Brown. State Representative District 66 Jimmy Mason, Republican, beat Andrew Kennedy, Libertarian, with 78 percent of the vote.
 
On the state level offices Eddy County residents chose Mark Ronchetti as Governor, while state results are in favor of Michelle Luanne Grisham at 52 percent verses Ronchetti at 46 percent.
