Making a Difference Making a Difference

Have you seen the new (well, new to me!) technology in cars today? Cars that absolutely almost drive themselves! I was test driving one recently and the guy told me to get out on the highway and then almost, but not quite, let go of the wheel. What a strange feeling that was when the car followed the curve of the road. Then it slowed down when cars were ahead of me a certain distance. It alerted me when I tried to take control of the wheel myself and began to inadvertently cross the line a bit. It alerts me when the speed limit changes. It alerts me when I am getting too close to something when parking or backing up. It is amazing!

It occurred to me that this is kind of how we are with God. He wants to control the direction we are heading, but He wants us to allow that. He is not going to force His will on us. Just like this car, we need to keep in touch with Him, by keeping our hands on the wheel, but we need to let Him do the steering. He alerts us when we are kind of crossing the line and veering toward another lane. He lets us know when we are getting to close to something that has the potential to damage us in some way. He is on the alert for potential hazards for us.

We are so blessed to have such a Savior. One who cares for us more than the Nissan Corporation! He has our best interest at heart and truly wants us to choose Him and His guidance system. He wants us to have that nice comfortable trip, even though there may be some pot holes, or road construction along the way. We can always know that no matter what is going on around us, He is watching out for us and keeping us close to Him as we travel through life.

Even though this car I drove can virtually drive itself, it will alert me to the point of finally stopping the car if I take my hands off the wheel. God wants that with us. He wants us to follow His guidance, but He wants us to be active participants in our life on His path. He gives us the choice to choose Him, or not. He gives us the choice to follow Him or not. He gives us the choice of eternal life with Him or eternal life without Him.

How about you? Are you paying attention to all the alerts along the way? Are you trying hard to stay in the path God has mapped out for you? Are you being an active participant along the way? That is God’s plan for you and for me.

Use God’s guidance system! It will make a difference!
