Francisco “Roddy” Castaneda, 70, of N. Main Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away October 13, 2022 in El Paso, Texas.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating.  Cremation will take place following the services.

Roddy was born September 20, 1952 in Carlsbad, NM to Martin and Elia (Hernandez) Castaneda.  He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1971.  Roddy was a local Golden Glove boxer.  He worked in construction throughout his career. Roddy was an avid marksman and hunter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Leonardo Castaneda.

Survivors are his long-time devoted partner, Brenda Compton; sons: Jason Castaneda and wife, Amy, Rodney Castaneda and Andrew Castaneda; grandchildren: Nichelas Castaneda, Jaxon Castaneda, Sterling Castaneda, Nathaniel Castaneda, Nyah Rojo and Maggie Castaneda; great-grandchildren: Neveah Castaneda, Eli Castaneda, Kai Castaneda and Bostune Castaneda; sisters: Deborah Perez and husband, Carlos, Sarah Castaneda; brothers: Martin Castaneda, Jr., Jerry Castaneda, Lonnie Castaneda, Eloy Castaneda and numerous nieces and nephews.
