The schedule of events on Friday, November 4 includes hot air balloons lifting from each of the Artesia elementary schools’ playgrounds, Grand Heights Kindergarten, and Zia Intermediate School at 7:30 am. On Saturday the hot air balloons will lift off (weather permitting) at sunrise from Eagle Draw Park, with tunes by KSVP Radio, beverages from Kith & Kin and breakfast food trucks. Tissue paper hot air balloons will lift from the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center at 2:00 pm and a Glow & Fire concert will be held at Heirloom Acres featuring the AHS Band and The Twirling Starts at 6:00 pm. The hot air balloons will lift off again from Eagle Draw Park at sunrise on Sunday, weather permitting.
Are you interested in getting a ride in one of the hot air balloons? One way to do that is become a sponsor. Sponsors help the pilots “crew” their balloon each morning, which then could get rewarded with a flight (at the pilot’s discretion). The Chamber does not promise anything because the event is weather-dependent, however, sponsors get the first opportunity to fly with the pilot. If you’re interested in flying here is how you can help these pilots and most likely catch a ride:
- Friday Fun Flight Sponsor – $250 for 3-5 people to help crew from one of the school playgrounds
- Weekend Sponsor (Saturday and Sunday morning flights)- $500 for 3-5 people to help crew one balloon both mornings at Eagle Draw Park.
