Graveside services are schedule for Jackie Smedley at 2:00pm on Monday October 10, 2022, at Woodbine Cemetery.

Mike Adams will officiate at the services.

Jackie Smedley 73 passed away peacefully on October 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Jackie was born on February 7, 1949; the son of Lela Darlene Briscoe Smedley and James William Smedley.

Jackie served three tours in the Vietnam war. He served as infantry and air born rangers. After he served his country, he came home back to Artesia NM where he worked in the oilfield and was a truck driver. Jackie enjoyed riding horses, reading, and watching westerns and spending time with his family. His pride and joy were his grandkids and great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by both parents and brother Darrell Smedley.

He is survived by his brother Joy Smedley and wife Kay of Kane Utah, son Joy Smedley, and a daughter Jennifer Smedley of Artesia NM, son Bill Smedley of Odessa Tx, and daughter Marisa Wilson of Artesia Nm. Grandchildren Michael, Junior, John Wayne Smedley of Artesia NM, Natasha Siefert of Artesia Nm, James Ahern Smedley of Arizona, Maliza Smedley, Syanna Durham and Kimberly Roach all of Pittsburg Tx and Robert Ledgerwood of Artesia NM. Great- grandkids Noah Pierce, Damion Smedley of Artesia NM, Anna Ledgerwood and Rosemaye Ledgerwood of Artesia NM. Pallbearers will be Michael, Junior, Johnwayne Smedley, Natasha Siefert, Lance Gage, Lonnie Pierce, and Bill Smeldey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joy Smedley and James Ahern Smedley.
