The Renegade 2022 Rodeo Tour will be taking place at the Eddy County Sheriff’s Posse on Friday (Sept. 23) and Saturday (Sept. 24) beginning at 7 p.m. Western Week celebrations will include a barbeque at the Sheriff’s Posse on Thursday, Sept. 22. This event lasts from 6-8 p.m. and the cost is $18 per plate. There will be team roping going on at the same time. There will also be barrel racing taking place from 4-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Rodeo Week actually kicks off on Tuesday, however, with the Miss Rodeo Eddy County Queen Pageant. There will be a meet and greet with this year’s contestants beginning at 5 p.m. This competition is open to the public. Queen contestants participated in this weekend’s Fiesta parade. Congratulations to contestants Jeovana Montoya, Shelby Kennedy, Avery Lawless, Paisley Mobley and Addie Parsons.

Thanks to Jennie Rennie and everyone with the Sheriff’s Posse for working so hard on Rodeo Week.

In addition to being Constitution Week and Rodeo Week, this will also be the weekend for Carlsbad’s Relay for Life celebration, Friday night and Saturday morning at the bandshell. This will also be the final weekend of the summer where the Carlsbad Water Park is open to the public. The park will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24. Thank you to Luke Garza and all of our lifeguards for another successful summer.

From the office of Mayor Dale Janway
