Who does not love autumn in Artesia?

Cooler temperatures, changing leaves, Bulldog football, and a jam-packed event season downtown! Bookend your October and plan to be in Downtown Artesia the first and last weekend of the month.

Artesia kicks off the month with the Seventh Annual Red Dirt Black Gold Festival on Saturday, October 1st and ends it with everyone’s favorite Spooky Saturday in Artesia, Trick-or-Treat MainStreet on October 29th.

Red Dirt Black Gold 2021

Red Dirt Black Gold is the signature event of the Artesia Arts & Cultural District, a program of Artesia MainStreet. The festival is a one-day celebration of the oil and gas industry and its impact on our community and region. Join us in the Heritage Plaza parking lot in Downtown Artesia on Saturday, October 1st. Downtown shops will have specials throughout the day with the free Red Dirt country concert starting at 5:00pm.

We may have moved the Seventh Annual Festival to cooler temperatures, but the acts will still be firing hot! Artists include Tell Runyan, Kody West, Chad Cooke Band, and headliner Jason Boland & The Stragglers. Other events during the festival include a cornhole tournament, green chile cookoff, an oilfield-themed carnival, and New Mexico Brewfest featuring New Mexico’s finest draft beer and cider.

Make sure you return downtown on Saturday, October 29th from 5:00 – 7:00pm for the Seventh Annual Trick or Treat MainStreet! The event includes seven city blocks of free candy, music, and games. Bring the whole family in costume and make sure you check out our friends at the Artesia Public Library for their Halloween Fun event right before MainStreet opens.
