We’re not sure where the time went, but the 2022 Energy Summit is rapidly approaching. This year’s annual event will take place on Oct. 20 at the civic center.  Our agenda is still in development, but you can register in advance to attend through the web page at https://carlsbadfoundation.org/summit/.

The energy summit started a decade ago because Carlsbad residents had a high level of interest in terms of learning more about what was coming down the road with the oil and gas industry in particular. We still want to know what we can expect to see on the horizon. It has been a great event because it brings executives from energy companies in Houston and Dallas together with members of our community. 

Special thanks to the Carlsbad Community Foundation for helping us with this event, and to Danny Fletcher for serving as our chairman and master of ceremonies. So far, our list of speakers includes Doug Ackerman (NMOGA), Jim Winchester (IPANM), Hanson Yates (Santo Petroleum), Sandi Guy (CRI), Brian McGowen (XTO) and weatherman Steve Stucker, who will be this year’s motivational speaker. We’ve already spoken with the school district about getting some local students interested in meteorology to meet with Stucker. We’re adding more speakers and special guests and are looking forward to a very special informative event. 

These events would not be possible without sponsorship, and we’ve already received commitment from several generous companies. We’re very exciting about the upcoming energy summit, and we hope you’ll join us this year.
