On Monday, members of our community had a chance to visit with Doug Ackerman, who is the executive director for the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association. NMOGA represents a wide group of companies ranging from corporate giants to small, family-owned companies.  Ackerman also met with school and county officials before paying a similar visit to Hobbs. We gave him a tour around Carlsbad so that he could see how much growth we are currently experiencing. 

Recent data has Eddy County leading the nation with 53 active drilling rigs. Eddy and Lea Counties, combined, account for more than 25 percent of the states Matched Taxable Gross Receipts. This is the hub of the oil and gas industry in the entire country. We’re thrilled to report that Ackerman has already committed to being one of our speakers at our energy summit Oct. 20.

NMOGA plays an extremely important role of educating the public on issues related to the oil and gas industry. We look forward to working very closely with Mr. Ackerman in the future.
