Summer has well and truly arrived here in Downtown Carlsbad!
Our Downtown Farmers and Makers Market is happening every Thursday evening starting June 16 from 5:30 – 7:30pm and will go through September 29. Each month during the market season, we will have our Third Thursday events on June 16, July 21, August 18, and September 15. Our Third Thursdays are more event style than the regular market nights, and we invite other local non-profits to attend and be able to provide information about their organizations and upcoming events or activities they may have. Each Third Thursday follows a different theme for the evening, and they have proved to be a great night out for our community. MainStreet is very fortunate to have Kelly Childs as our Farmers Market Manager; Kelly helps to ensure all our market nights and Third Thursday events run smoothly and our vendors are taken care of. If anyone has any questions or is interested in signing up as a vendor for our market, email Kelly at carlsbadfarmersmarket.kelly@gmail.com or call our office at (575) 628-3768. Of course, our Downtown Farmers and Makers Market could not take place without our generous community partners that sponsor our market season. With that said, I would like to send a huge THANK YOU out to Mosaic Potash, Nuclear Waste Partnership, Keep Carlsbad Beautiful, and Carlsbad Medical Center for their continued support of this longstanding event. Thanks to their support we can bring great music, entertainment, food, activities, freebies, and so much more to make our market the greatest that it can be for our community.
With our market happening every Thursday evening for the next four months and a multitude of other community events every weekend, whoever still says there is “nothing to do here” must not have noticed our online calendar in collaboration with the Carlsbad’s Chamber of Commerce. The calendar can be found on the Carlsbad MainStreet, Pearl of the Pecos, and Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce websites. We all work hard to make sure that every event happening in our community is listed on the calendar and any submissions of events can be sent to calendar@carlsbadchamber.com.
None of these great events could take place around our community without the support of our sponsors, but we must also acknowledge the hard work and volunteer hours that go into these events. It is tough to fully grasp the amount of planning, preparation, and timing that these organizations spend to ensure that every event is a great and fun-filled experience for our community. At this point, I would like to give a huge shout-out and a THANK YOU to my Carlsbad MainStreet Board members and Pearl of the Pecos Steering Committee members who put in countless volunteer hours to better serve the people of Carlsbad. I could not possibly do any of the work that I do without their continued help and support every step of the way!

Executive Director, Carlsbad MainStreet Arts & Cultural District
