Cool, refreshing, and delicious — Agua Fresca!

Spanish for fresh water, Agua Fresca is any combination of fruit, water, and sugar to create a light, fruity drink. Served on ice, the juice is a healthy and delicious taste of summer! Traditional flavors include horchata, made with rice, and many other fruit combos! Agua Fresca can be purchased at local paleterias and Mexican restaurants but can also easily be made at home!

Take a shot at this simple homemade recipe for the perfect summer refreshment!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium Seedless Watermelon
  • 1 Agua de Coco (Coconut water)
  • 9 ounces
  • Ice to your liking
  • Mint and/or lime for garnish
  • Sugar or Agave Syrup to your taste
  • Blender
  • Pitcher
  • Fine mesh strainer

Instructions

  1. Dice seedless watermelon into chunks.
  2. Blend watermelon into liquid puree.
  3. Pour puree through fine mesh strainer to catch pulp.
  4. Add ice, 4-6 cups watermelon juice, and 1 Agua de Coco into pitcher.
  5. Garnish with mint or lime juice and sweeten to taste!
