Cavegirl Faith Aragon was announced as the 2021-22 Gatorade New Mexico Softball Player of the Year. Aragon is the third Gatorade New Mexico Softball Player of the year from Carlsbad High School. Last week, Caveman Nolan Perry received the award for baseball.

According to a press release, the award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character. Aragon helped the Cavegirls to a 30-1 record and Class 5A state championship this past season. She had a 16-1 record with a 1.91 ERA and 182 strikeouts. She also batted .598 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI. 

She’s also the vice president of the high school’s Interact Club, which includes helping with food drives and clean-up efforts. She has maintained a 3.67 GPA and will begin her senior year of high school this fall. Aragon is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year. Congratulations again to all members of the Cavegirl softball program.
