The Artesia chapter of the Future Farmers of America organization traveled to the State Convention in Las Cruces this week. The State Convention for the New Mexico FFA Association is in its 94th year. This year, the Corbett Center at New Mexico State University hosted the state-wide meeting of the New Mexico FFA chapters.

 

The high school age competitors met for four days, from May 31-June 3, to participate in a variety of agricultural inspired events. In the Extemporaneous competition, Shana Elkins took 2nd place. Bryce Bain earned 4th in Employment Skills, and Addy Folmar secured 4th in Speech. In Ag Education, the Artesia team earned the top three spots: Paydon Kneipkamp 1st place, 2nd place Bailey Virden, and in 3rd was Maddie Pittman. The Ag Communications Team achieved the top spot. Members of Ag Communications are Addy Folmar, Ann Greenwood, Emma Greenwood, and Gracie Rand. The Ag Sales Team placed 2nd at the Convention and those team members are: Bryce Bain, Kylie Beckwith, Shana Elkins, and Braden Fuentes.
