Services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday, May 21, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Douglas Mac Apperson of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Apperson, 80, died on May 14, 2022 in Artesia.

Burial will take place at Hagerman Cemetery, Hagerman, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Powell, Marty Posey, Nicky Posey, Cutler Crockett, Doepp Crockett, and Cody Bussey. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am on Saturday.

Douglas was born on March 23, 1942 in Risco, Missouri; the son of Joseph Beverly Apperson and Mary Ellen Graves Apperson. He was married to Janell Mathews on September 14, 1960 in Hagerman. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2009.

He was a truck driver for many years. He had served in the United States Air Force for four years and was stationed in El Paso and Alaskal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers J B Apperson and Billy Ray Apperson.

Survivors include his son Ricky Apperson and wife Christy of Artesia; grandsons Shawn Apperson and Dale Apperson both of Artesia; sisters Barbara Reid of Hobbs, NM and Imogene Hunt of Carlsbad, NM; brothers-in-law Bill Mathews and wife Marva of Mayhill, NM and Chester Harlow and wife Jan of Artesia; also by numerous nieces and nephews.
