The Pregnancy Help Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, located at 610 West Quay Street that continues to serve the families of the City of Champions. According to their mission statement, “The Pregnancy Help Center of Artesia is a Christ-centered ministry that provides free and confidential pregnancy services in order to promote the truth of God’s design for cherishing life. We will love, support, educate, and counsel women and families facing an unplanned pregnancy.”
In August, the Pregnancy Help Center lost their long time Executive Director, Amanda Ramsey, due to a move with her family. While the center lost their original director, PHC did not close its doors. Without missing a beat, Melissa Ramsey, jumped in as interim director so that the programming through the center could continue without interruption. According to Jessica Prude, a volunteer with the organization, “Melissa relates well to both parents and to children. She’s a mother of 9 herself. She is also a fantastic problem solver.”
As of February 1st, Melissa was appointed as the Executive Director after serving as the interim one. She has stepped into her new role with enthusiasm and an intuition for what needs to be done.
