The Eddy County Recycled Art Show is in full swing at the Artesia Public Library. The art show is a yearly event sponsored by the local nonprofit Artesia Clean and Beautiful which is committed to the beautification of our community. Citizens of Eddy County show their creativity and talent through a wide variety of repurposed materials. Students at the Artesia Public School District participated as well with pieces completed during art classes at school. Newspaper and plastic bag dresses, working floor lamps made from old bicycle wheels and tin cans, bottle cap snowmen, and a 10-foot-tall cardboard replica of the Empire State Building complete with King Kong near the spire all grace the foyer of the Public Library.

Individual pieces of recycled art can be purchased after the show. If you’re interested in purchasing an artist’s work, consult the tags below each entry to the show. The prices vary and some are listed as NFS, Not For Sale. If you’re more of a voyeur than a buyer, there’s also an interactive component to the show; the People’s Choice winners are still out for adjudication. To participate, pick up one of the slips of paper and write in the name and title of your favorite pieces from several different age categories ranging from pre-k to adult.
