Our beloved father Forrest Allen Dickerson entered into God’s Kingdom on February 26, 2022, after battling Parkinson’s and the effects of a devastating fall.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2022, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2022, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ross Whiteaker officiating. Interment will take place later at the Page Cemetery near Foss, Oklahoma. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of making arrangements.

 

Forrest was born to Garland and Birdie Lou Dickerson on April 3, 1931, in Foss, OK. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Oklahoma State and graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts. After graduating, he moved to Carter, OK and taught IA and coached baseball and basketball.

 

In 1947, Forrest met Neta Fern Austin, a match truly made in heaven, after his family moved back to Foss when Garland took the job as Superintendent of Schools. Forrest and Neta married in 1951 and went on to have five children, Curtis Wayne, Neta Beth (Edwards), Allen Dale (stillborn), Sheila Lou (Smith), and Charles Allen. Forrest was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. He loved the church and loved sharing the grace of Jesus Christ with others. He was a part of Carlsbad Lions Club and an avid member of First Baptist Church.  In his service there he worked with the Baptist Convention of New Mexico, Pecos Valley Baptist Association, Campers on Mission, Disaster Relief, Camp Sivells, and others. He was a lifelong member of the choir, taught Sunday School, Royal Ambassadors, and served as a Deacon for over 60 years, 57 at FBC Carlsbad. On August 22, 2021, the church bestowed on him the honor of Deacon Emeritus.

 

He is survived by many loving family members including his wife Neta Fern, a sister Betty Ruth Sexton, children Curtis Wayne and wife Jonna, Neta Beth Edwards, Sheila Lou Smith and husband Shane, and Charles Allen and wife Christy. Fourteen grandchildren, fifteen greatgrandchildren, and a slew of nieces and nephews.
