). Long lines at the fast-food joints around town? Consider stopping a local food truck instead. The lines are sure to be shorter. If you’re concerned about returning before the noon hour ends, beat the rush and go early or be patient if a line does form. Food trucks are the labor of love for local owners. Owners perform all of the leg work, dreaming, and planning to keep the truck running. Appreciate the craft and love that goes into food preparation.
). Have an idea of what you’d like before you step up to the counter. Read the menu while you wait in line or come prepared with recommendations from friends and family. Asking around to find out which truck has the best tacos or burritos always yields the best conversation and opinions!
). Be adventurous and trusting. If you’re sampling a new dish, don’t be wishy-washy, go for it! Owners work hard to bring delicious meals across their menus.
). Come prepared with multiple ways to pay. Some trucks take card payments through mobile devices others prefer cash. You won’t know how each truck operates until you step up to the counter, so come prepared with card and cash. Cash tends to be a faster method of payment, but if you’re not in a rush, cards work well too, if they’re accepted.
). Be generous with tips. It’s sometimes unclear if tips are accepted or not at food trucks, but rest assured, they’re appreciated.
). Be tidy; pick up any litter that falls. Artesians are well aware of how far the wind can carry trash and litter, so help keep the little community clean by sacking paper napkins, straws, Styrofoam cups and travel containers.
