Joyce L. Whitfield

Joyce L. Whitfield, 99, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Joyce was born on September 16, 1922, in Clarendon, Texas to Walter H. Conn and Pearl Bernice (Eden) Conn.

Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday January 24, 2022, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Then a graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM with Associate Pastor of Music and Worship Kevin Pence officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce lived a life of simplicity, and always strived to help others. She was a member at the First Baptist Church, volunteered many years with the Women’s Auxiliary Group at the hospital, and was a Cub Scout den mother. Joyce will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Walter H. Conn; mother, Pearl Bernice (Eden) Conn; husband, Raymond W. Whitfield; son, Paul R. Whitfield; and granddaughter, Sydney Whitfield.

Joyce is survived by her son, Dale Whitfield of Las Cruces, NM; grandson, Jess Whitfield and wife, Brenda.
