Perhaps you’re knee deep in Christmas Spirit–your holiday shopping is done; you’re ahead of the holiday hustle and bustle, and you’re looking for a way to keep the good cheer rolling.

Perhaps you’re one of those struggling to find the motivation to pull the Christmas tree out of storage. The glitz and glamour of holiday decor just makes you nauseous as you’re out and about.

In either case, Artesia is full of ways to fuel your Christmas cheer–whether it needs a kickstart or a gentle fan to the already strong flame. Check out the ways to give back in our community below. Provide a monetary donation, give away your time by volunteering, or give the gift of food or a toy.

Consider donating to the Artesia Racquet & Health Club’s Christmas Toy Drive. As an added bonus for donating, the club will give you a membership discount for your gift. Make sure to deliver by December 20th to the club to participate.

Round up some non-perishables and donate them to one of the local food pantries. First United Methodist Church at 500 W. Grand Ave., The Trinity Temple Assembly of God at 11507 W. Hermosa Dr., and St. Vincent de Paul at 603 S. Roselawn Ave. are all food bank locations in Artesia. Victory Life Fellowship at 1716 N. Pine Street also accepts donations of food. Some ideas for non-perishable items include: canned tuna, boxes of pasta, jarred pasta sauce, pancake mix, syrup, cereal, peanut butter, and jelly.

Make a monetary donation to your favorite non-profits in town: the Chamber of Commerce, Haven of Hope, Packs of Love, the Artesia Arts Council, Artesia Emergency Shelter, and many more!

If you’re in search of ways to give your time, contact the Artesia Arts Council at (575) 746-4212 and ask for Lindsay. She’ll hook you up to be an usher at the Voices New Mexico concert or to assist with gingerbread house creation.

Another great way to serve your community with your time is to volunteer to deliver meals with Meals on Wheels. This can be done as a solo activity or as a family one. Meals are collected for delivery from the hospital cafeteria and distributed along a number of different routes. Contact Jenna with Meals on Wheels at (575) 746-9642 to sign up to warm your Christmas spirit.
