Obituary for Severo Quiroga

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Severo Quiroga of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Quiroga, 69, died on November 20, 2021 at his home in Artesia.

Severo was born on April 23, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas; the son of Julian Quiroga and Carmen Bermea Quiroga.

On February 23, 1980 he was married to Kathryn Acitelli in San Antonio, Texas. He came to Artesia in 1992 to instruct Border Patrol agents at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

Severo entered the US Border Patrol on October 2, 1978. His duty stations were in Deming, New Mexico and Laredo, Texas. He also instructed Physical Techniques at the US Border Patrol Academy in Glynco, Georgia. He taught at the Artesia FLETC until he retired in 2010. He loved his career and his colleagues. He was highly respected and loved much.

Severo enjoyed spending time with his wife Kathy and his children Jerry and Francesca. He was a loving husband and dad. Severo was a fun loving guy who enjoyed working out, entering all sorts of competitions, showing antique and classic cars, working on clocks and other projects, and gardening. Most of all, he loved people, especially his family and friends and they loved him back. He will be missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry Quiroga and Ignacio Quiroga, great-nephew Jaxon Garner, sister-in-law Frances Maday, and inlaws Mr. Frank B. Acitelli and Mrs. Florence Acitelli.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn Quiroga; a son Jerry Quiroga; a daughter Francesca Quiroga; brothers Julian Quiroga Jr and wife Polly, Larry Quiroga, and Henry Quiroga and wife Elsa; sisters Mary Roberts and husband Mike, Carmen Gavia and husband Gerard, and Betty Lou Quiroga; sisters-in-law Sally Clamp and husband Ross, and Reyes Quiroga; brother-in-law Bernard Acitelli and wife Judith; also by numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
