Artesia City Council November Review

On the November 9th meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Artesia Public Schools regarding the future maintenance and restoration fund of the Artesia Aquatic Center sought approval. A ratification of approval of a Special Dispenser Permit Application for Hotel Artesia for an event to be hosted on December 2nd also sought approval. 

Ottie Speir became a part of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Speir’s term on the commission will expire April of 2023. 

The city looks to hire two equipment operators for the Streets and Parks Department and a part time airport attendant. 

The police department wishes to send two employees to attend a Defensive Tactics Instructor course in Hobbs; two employees to attend the FBI-LEEDA Media and Public Relations training in Trinidad, CO; four employees to online training in recruiting and hiring for law enforcement; and two employees to attend the Government Finance Officers ASSC training in Albuquerque. 

Two public hearings are set for December 14th for the Artesia Improvement Company on 6th Street and for an ordinance which would amend city code regarding sewer user rates.
