Making a Difference

I have gotten in the really bad habit lately of hitting the snooze on my alarm. I have always been much more of a morning person, but lately it is just getting harder and harder to climb out of bed at my normal time.

I was noticing on my phone early one morning as I was hitting the snooze button how much bigger the snooze bar is than the shut off bar. The shut off “and get up” bar is at the very bottom of the screen, and is about a half-inch long and is grey and blends in with the dark screen. The snooze, on the other hand, is about an inch and a half long and is bright yellow and dead center of the screen. The iPhone people are subtly telling me I need to sleep in. They are making it much easier to hit the snooze than the stop bar. Interesting.

Is this not the way it is in life? Aren’t the temptations so much more brightly colored than the right path? The Bible says, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Here is the deal, the devil is very good at his job. He is hell’s Employee of the Year every single year. He knows what tempts us and he is very good at making it look so inviting and so irresistible. He does not want what is best for you. He wants horrible, horrible things for your life. But, so many times we just do what pleases us, (and the devil) and don’t even stop to think about whether it is the right thing or not. That is why that road is so wide. Many people are traveling it.

Our world today teaches that a life of doing what pleases you and putting yourself first is the best life. The world is teaching a lie. The best life comes only when you follow God. When you look for that narrow way and follow Him.

God made each one of us with a plan for our lives. An individual plan designed just for each one of us. That is the plan that will lead to success. That is the plan that will lead to peace and contentment, no matter what is swirling about us.

So, quit hitting the snooze bar on your life! Get up! Get out there and do what God has planned for you to do! Follow Him, and Him only and you will love where it leads.

Follow Him. It will make a difference.
