Obituary

Services are scheduled for 9:30 am Thursday, October 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Adolfo Chavez Ortega of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Ortega, 74, died on October 2, 2021 at his home in Artesia.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. A rosary is also scheduled for 9 am on Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church.

Adolfo was born on August 29, 1947 in Artesia; the son of Bernabe Ortega and Maria Chavez Ortega. He married Guadalupe Duran on May 28, 1966 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, music and playing the guitar, dancing. He loved his job and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Adolfo Ortega Jr., four sisters and nine brothers.

Survivors include his wife Guadalupe Ortega; daughter Ramona Ortega Vega and husband Joe; brother Barney Ortega, sisters Emma Ortega and Eva Lopez; grandchildren Xavier Vega and Alexander Vega.
